Have you ever missed the end of a transmission? Did your TX then send your text for a second time? What a waste of energy! Or are you staring at the screen all the time waiting for the second #49? What a waste of time!

Why isn't there any really notification mechanism really begging for attention so you won't miss the most important 11 seconds of the minute?

I thought about playing some sound for getting the user's attention. So you'd need a second sound card.

Ring the PC speaker? Most modern sound cards don't have one but play the sound via the sound card.

Let the screen flicker? Maybe you won't see this or it will be quite disturbing while using different applications.

There seems to be onegreat solution: the USB mail notifier .

I just ordered one and will try out whether this fits my needs.

What about other devices? Force-feedback controllers like Sony Dual-Shock? Does anyone know how to trigger these, especially the vibration?

Any more ideas...?
